The young Poet and Author was born in a small city called ‘Deschapelle‘, in Haiti. Honestly, Anne C. Lorient always felt different from her peers because she was the quiet and the shy one. Her mother moved to the U.S. when she was only 8 years of age, making it difficult for her father ‘Ernst Lorient‘ to support her and her younger sister ‘Marlie‘.
Having lost the relationship built with her mother back in Haiti, unable to understand the American language, culture and the absence of her father. Anne felt alone in a strange world, the English language made it challenging for her to build friendships in her school, she was bullied for being ‘Haitian‘ by her peers, as a result, she had difficulties accepting her own culture. As she proceeds on to Middle School, she had fully learned the American culture and the language very fast and well. She started writing her daily activities in her journal, which she named “Girl Stuff.”
After filling up many diaries, Anne thought maybe she could turn her writings into poems after attending a talent show at her local high school. Something about poetry unwrapped a different feeling from inside of her, one she never experienced before. Motivated and inspired, Anne went on to write her first poem called “ Fear”, with a close friend from her church. Filled with excitement and enthusiasm, she began writing and performing more poems at Shows, Weddings, Galas, and Churches.
Anne is a popular Poet and Author now. Her plan is to essentially be a role model through her arts in order to inspire, motivate and uplift other individuals through her words.
